Finding Route in Process

Structured process is crucial. It ensures clear communication, sets expectations, and fosters collaboration from start to finish.

By following defined stages — from initial connection and research through design development, revisions, and final delivery — it minimizes misunderstandings and streamlines workflow. This approach helps maintain project momentum, ensures quality control, and ultimately leads to higher client satisfaction and successful creative outcomes.

Profile

Inspiration, Evolution,
and Approach

My approach to design comes from years of real‑world experience, curiosity, and a genuine interest in helping people communicate their story clearly.

I’ve learned to pay attention to the details and to value the creative process. Honest communication is essential — this mindset shapes the person I am and the work I create.

  • Mountain Road Trip

    Early Inspiration

Growing up in rural Western Colorado, I was inspired by the creativity of Disney Imagineers. My passion for art and design was nurtured by family, educators, and friends. I discovered graphic design, using Macintosh computers and Adobe software, as a member of the high school newspaper, yearbook, and website design staff.

  • Color Paint Set

    College Years

I’ve always been able to visualize design but college gave me the space to refine it with intention. It’s where I dug into the fundamentals — composition, typography, color theory — and connected those principles to the broader history of art and design. Studying the movements and ideas that shaped the field helped me understand the art of design on a deeper level, grounding my natural instincts in a stronger sense of craft and purpose.

  • Printing Shop Equipment

    Practical Experience

At Hefner-Dean Wholesale Lithography, I gained practical knowledge of the printing and design industry. My role as a pre-press designer enhanced my understanding of press-ready design, digital file creation and management. I adapted to evolving technologies, transitioning from film to digital production, and developed strong organizational systems and skills that I continue to utilize.

  • Columbine Health Systems Sample Ad

    Corporate Experience

During my 19 years at Columbine Health Systems, I collaborated in building and then leading a four-member graphics department, growing it into a full-service in-house design and print operation. As Senior Graphic Artist, I managed more than 100 projects each month — ranging from internal communications to large-scale marketing — while maintaining consistent brand standards across diverse needs. The role blended creativity, organization, and problem-solving, and it gave me a deep understanding of how thoughtful design supports a complex, fast-moving organization.

  • Design Plans Layout

    Creative Detour

I applied my organizational skills and attention to detail at Armstead Construction Inc., working as a Drafting Professional and learning SoftPlan 2024. My work included client consultations, preparing permit and construction drawings for 30+ projects, and served as the acting project manager for two small remodels. The experience strengthened my appreciation for collaboration and problem-solving, both of which continue to shape how I approach design today.

  • Mountain Forest View

    Colorful Colorado

I find much of my inspiration outdoors with my wife and family, especially in the Colorado mountains. Any chance to camp, hike, or wander a trail tends to spark something — a detail, an idea, a color that may have been overlooked. Nature slows things down just enough to notice the small moments, and those observations often find their way into my work, process, and mindset.
